Founded in 2009, Morija Designs creates timeless silk accessories for bridal, special occasion and everyday wear. Using time-honored techniques and meticulous craftmanship, our naturally dyed silks are transformed into carefully curated lines of products consisting of hair accessories, floral jewelry, brooches, and one-of-a-kind kimonos.
Delicately hand pressed petals, Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls are found throughout these exquisite collections. Inspired by botanical silhouettes, and a love for natural dyes and colour palettes, the Morija Designs collections are an exquisite reflection of natures timeless beauty. Each piece is hand crafted in our studio, located in Fraser Valley, BC. Our materials are sustainably sourced then assembled by local artisans.
At Morija Designs we are never fast to produce a collection, as we prefer to dedicate our attention to focus on the handmade, slower fashion ideals which we believe creates mindful, ethical purchasing.
To be treasured, to be worn, to be loved.
the beauty of the process
All our silk arrives in its natural shade of white and is lovingly hand dyed or painted with botanical dyes. It is then finely crafted into bridal jewelry, hair accessories and one-of-a-kind kimonos.
With industry experience and formal training in textiles and fashion construction, Morija first conceptualizes each design. Blending couture construction, traditional French millinery and jewelry techniques she expresses her unique styling of the modern romantic. Each petal, leaf or wing is delicately hand pressed and stiffened to ensure pieces can be treasured for years to come.
sustainable design & production
Our silks are dyed in-house with natural dyes and extracts. Using natural dyes allows us to design seasonless fashion that keeps chemicals out of our bodies and our precious waterways.
Our team, dyes, cuts, shapes and assembles every piece by hand in the Morija Designs studio. Our packaging, materials and cloth are sourced locally. This allows us to minimize emissions while supporting local businesses and artists.
We are proud to say that we have been zero waste since 2019. We keep our textile and jewelry waste in good hands by repurposing it into new products, recycling it, or passing it along. Morija Designs also uses off waste from the bridal and textile production industries as much as we can. All our cloth is silk or silk blend which are 100% biodegradable so that all waste is diverted from landfills. Any jewelry metals are premium recycled gold, brass or sterling silver and any unused portions are recycled once again.
